“Getting from point A to point B is often a winding road when managing reproductive health and family planning.  I am here to offer support as you carve out the path forward.”~ Anna Kaufman

Education and Work

Anna received her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech in 2006, majoring in psychology and minoring in gender, science, and technology. Much of this time was spent working with women and children exposed to traumatic events, socioeconomic disadvantages, and complicated healthcare systems. She then continued on to Nova Southeastern where she obtained her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology. Her graduate school training focused on health psychology working with individuals managing complex medical conditions within hospitals and medical clinics.

Anna completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in health psychology through the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She then accepted a position at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the medical psychology program where she remained for over 10 years. During this time, Anna was the director of psycho-oncology and provided cognitive-behavioral interventions for patients and families undergoing oncologic care. Here she developed a special interest in fertility preservation and family planning within the oncology community. Additionally, she provided supervision for medical psychology fellows working within a variety of medical subspecialty departments.

Personally, Anna has benefited from reproductive medicine to build her family. This reinforced an even stronger mission for her to support others through the physical and emotional hurdles that may occur during their reproduction journey and cancer.
